After a warm welcome to her single “Nada” (Nothing), Ede released “Lo Que Yo Hago” (What I do), the second single from her debut album, which will come out in 2022. Going beyond the acoustic, more intimate, and plain format used for her previous releases, Ede has now managed to shape her musical and artistic identity. The artist reveals an identity that is more mature and richer in influences, ranging from indie to Spanish folklore, including R&B and neo-soul. It complements and boosts the creative world she had already crafted with her lyrics and voice, which are her trademark. On this new track, Ede explores her groovy side, borrowing sounds from R&B and neosoul and leaving her own melodic–especially lyrical– footprint. Produced at Fania Estudios, the song encapsulates the hypocrisy underlying human relationships, especially in the world of arts, and the need people have to take part in the success of others without really knowing what’s behind: “Poco escuchar en silencio pero mucha pose, Por lo menos me servís para escribir canciones” (Not fond of listening quietly, but always ready to pose; at least you serve me to write songs).
At just 23, and after releasing her first acoustic EP “Tranquila” (Tranquil), recorded at Spanish popular recording studios Estudio Uno, Ede has embarked on the exploration of her sound for her first record. And one thing is clear: There is a big fuss surrounding the upcoming studio album since her first EP managed to catch the attention of listeners and people in the Spanish music scene. This brought her the opportunity to collaborate with other Spanish artists, such as Xoel López, whom she is supporting on his latest tour and with whom she shares two singles, one of them being “Alma de oro” (It has reached 3.5 million reproductions on Spotify). Besides, Ede has also lent her voice for the Spanish film “Alegría” (Joy), directed by Violeta Salama, which will appear on the silver screen in December 2021.
